Sync Shutter is built so that your photos and videos never pass through servers we operate. We do not run user accounts, we show no ads, and we use no third-party tracking or advertising SDKs.
Photos and videos are transferred directly from your SD card to the destinations you choose — a local folder, Apple Photos, your cloud accounts, or your own server. We never receive, access, or store your files.
To understand which features are used and to catch failures, the app records a small number of anonymous usage events (for example: app launched, backup completed, backup failed, upgrade screen viewed). Each event includes the event name, app version, platform and OS version, approximate size ranges (such as a file-count bucket, never exact file names), the types of destinations used (such as “cloud” or “NAS”, never their names or addresses), and a random identifier generated on install.
This identifier is random, is not derived from you or your device, and is not connected to your name, email, Apple ID, or any account. Events are stored in Apple CloudKit and are readable only by the developer. They are used solely to improve the app and are never sold or shared.
The app uses OAuth 2.0 to connect to Google, Microsoft, and Dropbox on your behalf. Your credentials are handled entirely by those providers; the app never sees your passwords. OAuth tokens are stored locally in the device Keychain.
If you configure an S3-compatible or SFTP destination, its address and credentials are stored only on your device, in the Keychain. Uploads go directly from your device to your server. We never receive these credentials or your data.
Pro upgrades are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The app records only the anonymous fact that a purchase occurred, as part of the usage analytics described above.
The optional feedback form sends your message and basic device info (model, OS version, app version) via Apple CloudKit. No email or personal identifier is collected unless you choose to include one in your message.
